ZAKOPANE

At Monday night we came back from Elbląg. Now we are doing laundry and on Friday evening we are going to….ZAKOPANE. We decided to catch night coach. So we will be there on Saturday morning. I hope I will sleep well on the way there. Now I am going to prepare list of things which I should take and read guide book. I am so excited!!!

We pack different stuff  for a holiday by the sea, different for a bike ride and different for a trip to the mountains. Below I present my list things to take. Did I forget about something important? What do you take for such trip?

What take for a trip to mountains?

  • ID (I'm going to buy a train ticket with a discount for people up to age 26)
  • food on a way (water, chocolate bars)
  • kleenex
  • moist cleansing towels
  • pillow
  • blanket
  • rucksack
  • small hand bag
  • book
  • ipod
  • mobile phone+  charger
  • book with a jokes
  • guide book
  • map
  • hotel address written on a card
  • sunglasses
  • first aid kit (especially adhesive tape )
  • vanity case with your every day cosmetics (toothpaste, tooth brush etc)
  • nailfile
  • hand cream
  • suncream for the face
  • cotton buds and cosmetic pads
  • comb
  • hair dryer
  • thongs (you should wear them when you take a shower)
  • rain jacket
  • gaiters (pl: stuptuty)
  • hat, scarf, thin gloves
  • pajamas
  • socks
  • two pair of shoes (trekking shoes and sneakers)
  • binoculars
  • compass
  • torch
  • camera+ loader

Most people advise to take  soap, shampoo, towels etc.  In my opinion you don’t have to bear such things because they are usually in the hotels and if it happens that there are no such things that you can always easily buy it in shop or pharmacy.

What to do before going on a trip to mountains?
  • take out the trash
  • screw caps with water
  • close windows
  • check mail box

We were in Zakopane three years ago. This is how we looked:

I guess we changed a lot. Now I have straighter hair (thanks to dyeing them) and Łukasz put on weight ;P

Easter preparation! (part 2)

On Friday morning I went shopping at the market. I was looking for a parking place for 30 minutes. There were so many people. I bought a lot of fresh vegetables. When I came back home I made ham (yes ham!!!), two salads with mayonnaise and eggs stuffed with mushrooms and onion. After that I went straight to bed because I didn’t feel well. I catch a cold. I had really a lot of ideas how to make our Easter more special but  I didn’t have  enough energy to do this (eg paint eggs, bake cookies, even pack my bag for a trip etc).

On Saturday morning, in Elbląg, we went to a church to sacred food (PL: poświęcić święconkę). We wanted to go there on foot because church is really close and what is more we wanted  to move... After few minutes of our walk it started to rain heavily. I was as wet as a drowned rat.

In the afternoon we went for a walk to park to see waterfalls. Unfortunately I haven’t wear right and comfortable shoes to a place like that so we came back home quite soon.

Springtime is here… so is the Easter! I would like to wish you all Happy Easter!
Celebrate this beautiful holiday with all your dear ones. Take rest from problems at work and school and eat as much as possible.

On Sunday after Easter Breakfast we went to visit Łukasz family. There was small boy- Konrad who is 3 years old. He was main attraction of our visit.

On Monday was Lany Poniedziałek (Śmingus dingus). In the Polish tradition on that day people are topping up water on each other, just for fun. I completely forgot about this game but Łukasz haven’t. He poured water on me and I was like a child because it gave me a lot of joy.

After dinner we took Paulina (Łukasz's cousin) and his aunt for a trip to Krynica Morska. Paulina is rather close person and it took me some time to get contact with her.

At Monday night we came back home. Now we are doing laundry and on Friday evening we are going to ZAKOPANE! I am soooo happy! Although in Zakopane there are thousands of tourists, long queues to restaurants and very high prices I LOVE THIS CITY! It has great atmosphere! I cannot wait to be there!

Easter preparation! (part 1)

Hi everybody!
How are you today? I hope fine. In Gdynia weather is really beautiful- the sun is sunning so I am full of positive energy to start Easter preparation.

Yesterday evening in I wrote out Easter Cards for friends. Today I am gonna send them. To be honest I doubt they will get it on time.

This year, for the second time in my life I prepared address labels. In my opinion they are aesthetic, time saving and facilitate work of ladies at the post office (who don’t have to decipher my horrible hand writing).

Last year we spend Easter in Białystok with my family, so to make it fair we decided to spent this Easter in Łukasz home town,  in Elbląg, with his parents. I want to take part in preparation so I volunteered to prepare two salads, homemade ham, eggs stuffed with mushrooms and  Easter cake (babkę wielkanocną). I am not afraid of  salad preparation but I have to admit I have never ever made cake in my life. So today I baked cake just to practice. I really badly wanted to make it delicious so everybody will praise my cake. To be honest my baking turn out to be big failure… Cake has grown beautifully. I was so proud of myself. But when I turn off the oven the cake subsided (fell). I guess I should call Łukasz mother and inform her I will prepare just salads, ham and eggs or…. I can call the confectionery and order a cake ;)

I associate spring and Easter with cress. So today I sowed it. One more time I am sure it won’t  grow up till Easter. It is all because of my laziness cause I bought them three weeks ago and I postpone seeding them, eh.

Trip to Jastrzębia Góra

Last Friday we went for a supper to Pizza Hut. While waiting for pizza we were discussing our plans for weekend. Cinema, sport, playing boarding games at home I proposed.
What about going for a trip Łukasz said.
Me: Where would you like to go?
Łukasz: To a place where we have both never been.
Me: ???
Łukasz: Have you ever been to Jastrzębia Góra?
Me: No, I haven’t.
Łukasz: OK, so after supper we are going home, pack our bag as fast as possible and we are going to JASTRZĘBIA GÓRA!
Me: And what about hotel?
Łukasz: Madzia, Jastrzębia Góra is tourist city. There are only restaurants and hotels! Don’t worry we will find something for sure.

After 1 hour we were in the road! On our way we listen to Radio Kaszebe Gospoda. Since Friday it is my favourite radio station. I didn’t know that on Pomeranian area people listen to disco polo music! ;) When we arrived to Jastrzębia Góra we drove very slowly on main street. We were looking for nice hotel and we found one.

We chose hotel ERA. It was really nice place to stay. It has great restaurant with good ratio quality to price. In restaurant there was some kind of dance. A lof of people were dancing in pairs like on a wedding. I love such atmosphere so I had a lot of fun.

On Saturday we went for a trip around the city, on a beach and to Rozewie. Rozewie it is small village on a walk distance from Jastrzębia Góra. It is formerly thought to be the most northerly point in Poland. There is also beautiful lighthouse.

I strongly recommend going on a small trip during the weekend with friends or a partner. It helps forget about week problems and after spending few hours on a fresh air you will feel good for sure.
